With its enormous
population and rapidly expanding economy, China represents
staggering potential business opportunities for Western firms.
However,
there can be formidable
obstacles to overcome. According to
leading US-East Asian-relations expert David Everhart, one
of the biggest single obstacles to success in China is not
having the right organizational structure and
leaders to run your business. He identifies four specific
issues that multinational firms face in China:
- High turn-over rates
threaten stability and establishment of a strong
corporate culture
- Expatriate executives
who don’t know how to lead a Chinese workforce
- Locally-hired Chinese
leaders who lack the international experience and
language skills to interface effectively with global
headquarters in the U.S. or elsewhere
- A
Chinese
management team that doesn’t understand how to work
within a ‘matrixed’ global organization.
To find out how to manage
these issues, plan on joining a 90 minute audio session led
by David Everhart on Wednesday, June 27, from 1-2:30 pm ET.
The session will include a 60-minute presentation with
frequent opportunities for questions & answers. David will
cover the following topics:
- Effective
leadership
styles for the fast-growing China environment
- What kind of leaders
is China producing? A look at recent data on Chinese
leadership styles and practical applications for talent
management
- Selecting expatriate
managers: issues to consider
- Recruiting
expatriates to lead in China, retaining Chinese talent.
Participants receive:
